LOCATION DESCRIPTION: Burma: eastern Shan State; Laos: Namtha Province

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Tai Loi means ‘hill Tai’ in local Tai languages. Scattered in northeastern Kengtung in the eastern Shan State, with one village near Kengtung town and some also further south and in extreme northwestern Namtha Province of Laos, and one village in Thailand. Also spoken in China, where it is included in the Bulang nationality (note that the Mok in China do not speak Bulang).
